Before I was brought on board, the business relied heavily on paid ads to generate traffic and leads. However, this strategy proved costly and largely ineffective, which is why she turned to SEO.
The Goal
The goal was simple: grow the website’s organic traffic as quickly as possible. More importantly, generate well-targeted traffic that converts to paying customers.
Since the ERP niche was an industry I was fairly new to, I knew I needed to get up to speed as quickly as possible. To achieve this, I performed an in-depth competitor analysis to have a good idea of what works.
This analysis also helped me understand Uphance’s ideal audience and how best to find them via search engines.
Once I had figured out Uphance’s ideal target audience, the next step was to figure out what they were searching online. This was where my keyword research skills came into play.
I leveraged tools like SEMRush and Google Keyword Planner for this purpose. I put the keywords into two broad categories:
I created a content bank based on the keywords I found. While I used informational keywords to create educational blog posts, I used commercial keywords to create conversion-optimized landing pages.
I also ensured the educational posts had compelling CTAs and were linked to the right commercial pages for maximum conversion.
